More inspiration for 2010

The new year has started and with it my ever so present need to find the appropriate clothes and accessories for true expression is yet again pressing.

Given the scortching heat one has to endure at this time of year here in the southern hemisphere, the best choice for an interesting look has got to be accessorizing oneself.

Ever since I caught eyes on his work, I immediately fell in love with Keko Hainswheeler‘s headpieces, masks and all the rest.

He’s been working quite frequently creating masks and the works for Lady Gaga, including the ones seen in the amazing visually rich video for Bad Romance.

Daily dose of expression

I continue dreaming of a world full of magical looks and boundless ways to express one’s personality without (much) judgement.

Having said that, I cannot help but state here my admiration for Lady Gaga‘s visual input. It is undeniably a part of her performance on has got to pay attention to.

Dreamy job offer

I was recently offered a managerial position within my company. The proposed salary was quite interesting and the amount of power I would have was tempting. And besides, the promotion would look very good on my CV. I turned it down.

Although interesting, this kind of work so closely tied to office obligations, time constraints and to being “the boss” is just not for me.

I told my boss that if I accepted it, I would probably just slowly die due to monthly-report-writing complications. It would – and I’m positive about this, bore me to death.

I’d much rather work with something that would bring about creativity and inspiration; something that can motivate me to contribute with something truly valuable to the world (according to my views, of course).

This is the sort of work imagery that fills my dreams about my dream work:

Lovely pop music (this Swedish duo is so sweetly pretentious), headpieces by Keko Hainswheeler, gold clothes by Les Hommes, designer boots, flowers and a piano.

If only she had offered me that.

Uprising against boring clothing

Why is men’s fashion so boring? That’s a question I cannot cease to ask.

Year after year, despite my longing for novelty and excitement all I get is variations on the same boring things – suits, pants, jackets and shirts. Even the designers who create outrageously fun clothes for women tend to come up with rather dull designs for men. I know couture for men isn’t profitable, but where are the sources of inspiration we guys so desperately need?

There is hope, though. I have recently come across some of the designs of Keko Hainswheeler, a young British designer who creates fun pieces of clothing and the most attractively colorful headpieces one can think of. Another one who’s caught my attention is the Japanese shirt virtuoso Kiminori Morishita.

I hereby propose an uprising against boring men’s fashion. Who’s with me?
